If you are anything like me you are like me you've been rushing around like a crazy person trying to get everything ready for the holiday! I really dislike when our break only begins a day or two before the holiday. I feel like I can't get anything straight!

I digress....

Soooo I've been trying to find gifts for my kiddos that are:
a.) Useful.
b.) Something that will last.
c.) Not a fortune!

So voila!

Simple scarves to keep my kiddos nice and warm this holiday season :)

Bring Contacting Parents to the 21st Century!

Wednesday, December 12, 2012
If you've been following my blog for some time you already know that I LOVE Remind101. If you have no idea what I'm talking about read on!
Back in July I was in the mode every teacher is in. (whether we want to be or not) I was lounging outside in my hammock with an ice cold lemonade in my hand while I searched through apps on my iPhone and iPad for the upcoming school year. It's always nicer to plan for the year when it isn't so close to occurring. Right!? Well anyway, I came across some apps that I found quite useful, but nothing to shout from the rooftops about (or put down my lemonade for that matter) then I found Remind101.
Immediately ideas came rushing to my head!! How amazing would it be if I could get my students' parents to sign up for a text alert system that was run by little ol' me!?! If you're a teacher like me there are 1,001 things going on at once in your classroom and sometimes notes just get lost in the route home. I don't know about you, but I don't have the time to call 26 parents every night after their children leave my classroom either.
This is where this miracle comes in handy!! Remind101 gives you the opportunity to send a text or email to the parents through your computer or phone app. They even have a feature to schedule a message to shoot out to the parents at any date or time that you need it to be sent!! Amazing right?? And what parent doesn't have their phone with them 24/7?
Well once I found out about it I needed to spread the word, so of course I used my blog :)
My original blog post
I couldn't believe how many of you had not heard about it! I had so many people asking me how it worked and to tell you the truth I didn't truly know because I had just found it! I then knew that I was looping with my students, so I contacted the parents and let them know we would be using the system and before the school year even started I had 1/2 of my class enrolled in Remind101.
I then found out that Remind101 wasn't only a blessing to me and my followers, but we in return were helping Remind101 out! I was contacted by them and their amazing staff about how my post was bringing them large amounts of amazing teachers like you to their site... read those posts here: Remind101's Blog
and the rest is history!!!
If for some reason you aren't using it yet, you need to!! Every person that I have forced encouraged to start it doesn't know what they did without it :) So what do you have to lose?

Guest Blogger Sandra!

Everyone I'd like to introduce you to an amazing friend, teacher, and fellow blogger!!! Make sure to check out her blog for even more great tips and tricks!!

Hello lovelies!!!
I'm Sandra from Sweet Times in First! I am a first grade teacher in Arizona.
I am sooo excited to be guest blogging for an amazing blogger!
{Thanks for letting me, Jess!}
I just tried this new way to rearrange my student's desks! My kiddos have been ReAlLy chatty these past few days so I knew that they needed a change... I know, I am evil like that! LOL! So here is an easy way to change the kiddos around.
I got this idea from one of my mentor teachers in college and it is genius!
All you need is this:
Open up your file folder...
I set my sticky notes just like my desks in my room...
Again, excuse the mess! I took this picture yesterday and we forgot to clean our desks on Friday! Whoops!
Do you see how my sticky notes look like my desk layout in my room??
Last, put all of the names on the sticky notes and go crazy... Move them all around!
WARNING!!! This file folder will help you MOVE your kids around! I had to move all of the desks on the opposite side that they initially were! Haha I was so tired after all of that moving!
Let me know if this works for you!
I will be definitely be keeping track of who sits next to who with this bad boy! :)
Have a sweet day and don't forget to stop by my blog and say HI!
