Will You Still Love Me?

Tuesday, September 11, 2012
I swear I've said it 1,000 times and I truly mean it, I miss blogging! I swear I feel like a first year teacher all over again! Taking on a new grade is no easy task. I feel like there are not enough hours in the day and the hours of sunlight are shorter and shorter! Well obviously that part is true... Apparently I have to live in the southern hemisphere, but then I'd just have that problem at a different time of year, huh?

I digress!

But you hear me right? Professional developments, rubrics, lesson plans, assessments, grading... The list goes on and on and when you're done the vicious cycle starts all over again!!

Anyway I promise I haven't forgotten you! And I'll leave you with a photo from journal time this morning (not really sure where the pic will appear since I'm fiddling with blogger on my phone! Eeek.

Much love!

I know what you mean! I'm teaching a split 1st/2nd grade class for the first time ever and I feel insane! haha
That picture is so sweet. I'm amazed how touched and moved by the Sept. 11 lesson even though they weren't even alive when it happened. It looks like your student felt the same way- even the sun is sad.

I looped up to 1st a few years ago-I remember how difficult it was. About March I kind felt like I knew what I was doing! :) It's a lot to deal with but I'm sure you're doing a great job!

I'm in the same boat as you this year and overwhelmed doesn't even seem like the right word for how I feel. It's just SOOOO different moving from KDG to 1st grade. I swapped buildings and grade levels (not my choice) and I just feel like a 1st year teacher, in my 12th year of teaching. I know you are only about 20 minutes away from me....we need to become email buddies and make it thru this crazy year!

I just did the same thing. I too have been feeling like a first year teacher!! It is crazy! I will say the nice thing is that the kiddos can now hold their pencils at the beginning of the year. Can't wait to see what you discover!

I'm with you! I'm back to second grade after being in first for two years. So much has changed with CCSS that I feel like I am starting all over! I love the touching journal entry.

I moved from teaching kindergarten for 9 years to teaching 1st grade for the past 3 years. I loved it! They can listen to more than 1 story at a time. It will get easier and just think how developmentally appropriate you will be as a first grade teacher. You bring many powerful tricks with you. Good luck! If you need tips, tricks, or some cheering on, let me know how I can help. And it's ok to be MIA for a while :)
